Welcome Home

This is the foyer for an apartment building in Porto, Portugal. Found completely by accident while wandering the winding streets of the old city, I have no way of knowing any history of the building. I don't know when it was built, who lived there or even when or why it was abandoned. I do know this building was home to many people over the years. Few things evoke feelings of nostalgia like the idea of home - a place where you feel you are safe, where you belong. Even in the crumbled husk of this old foyer I felt a nostalgia for the people who once called this home.
