Big Wheel Keep On Turning

Being in the abandoned city of Pripyat in the Chernobyl evacuation zone, once with a population of almost 50,000 people, is simultaneously like traveling back in time to another era while also looking into the future of a world without humans.

The famous Pripyat ferris wheel, symbolic of all that was lost during the disaster, was part of an amusement park that was supposed to open on May 1st, 1986, five days after the fallout. It got to see one day of use, the park was opened for a couple of hours on April 27, immediately after the fallout, to keep people entertained before the announcement to evacuate the city was made.
